The Infinite Pixel
Liberation Laboratory
Quick Facts
- The Infinite Pixel Liberation Laboratory, iPixLab, was founded in 2007.
- iPixLab is dedicated to realizing the proposition that every surface in any environment can be an image display.
- Efforts are centered on liberating pixels to fill the many dimensions of our lives.
- New cross-discipline concepts under development include transient displays, non-traditionally-shaped presentation and wide-view, immersive-view and environmentally-adaptive media creation and presentation.
- “Liberated Pixels” and “Liberated Media” are new Imaging Science philosophies, envisioning a world of transient and aspect-ratio-independent displays where any surface at any time can be used to present ideas.
- iPixLab benefits from RIT’s many diverse skill sets: Imaging Science, Color Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Gaming, Film and Animation, Fine Arts and Human Perception.
- Beyond pure research, iPixLab also supplies RIT faculty, students and the Rochester community with immersive facilities and supporting infrastructure.
